<p>903,136. Enamel pigments. ASSOCIATED LEAD MANUFACTURERS Ltd., and JAMIESON, H. D. March 21, 1961 [April 25, 1960], No. 14421/60. Class 56. A pigment for incorporation in a glaze for ceramics, giving a salmon-pink colour, consists of the following ingredients in parts by weight: zirconia or zircon 25 to 90; ammonium metavanadate 0 to 0.1 ; zinc oxide 1 to 12 ; iron oxide 1 to 12; chromium sesquioxide 1 to 12; and aluminium hydroxide 0 to 6. The chromium may be added as alkali metal dichromate, trioxide or sesquioxide and in the examples, zircon or zirconia are used alone (86.8%) or in equal parts. The mixture is calcined at 1200‹ C. to 1400‹ C., the temperature being reached in 3 to 4 hours and maintained for 1 hour. 1.5 to 2% is then added as a normal mill addition to the glaze. A suitable glaze is given in mols.: sodium and potassium oxides together 0.3; calcium oxide 0.4; zinc oxide 0.3; boric oxide 0.6; alumina 0.35 and silica 3.5.</p> |
