<p>PURPOSE:To provide a display device with high display contrast by providing an added capacity in parallel with a liquid crystal layer to eliminate shortage of capacity of the liquid crystal layer for increase in voltage applied to the liquid crystal layer and time constant. CONSTITUTION:An added capacity electrode 2 is formed on a lower side glass substrate 1, and patterned so that it is formed in a strip parallel electrode. An insulating film 12, a picture element electrode 4, a ferroelectric substance film 15, and a signal electrode 3 are formed on it in that order. Orientation films 14 and 13 are formed on the substrate thus formed and on an upper side glass substrate 6 on which an opposed electrode 5 is formed, respectively. The substrates 1 and 6 are sealed by a sealing material 7 through a spacer 10 and stuck to each other. Also a conductive rubber 11 is held to flow electric current between the opposed electrode 5 and the added capacity electrode 2. Liquid crystal is filled into a cell thus prepared, and sealed.</p> |
