<p>Prodn. of 2,7-octadien-1-ol (I) comprises hydrodimerising 1,3-butadiene with H2O in the presence of a transition metal source (metal or cpd.), a water-soluble tert. or quat. P cpd., and a tert. amine of formula NR1R2R3 (R1 and R2 = Me or Et and R3 = 6-22C alkyl). The reaction is effected in the presence of CO2 to carbonate the amine. The transition metal is Pd. The amine is N,N-dimethyl- dodecyl amine (II). The reaction temp. is 20-100 deg.C.</p> |
