The interface circuit operates between a central control unit and a given number of peripheral circuits limited by the address range. The interface circuit has a serial data input (SDI), a clock pulse input (SCK), a serial data output (SDO) and contains a sync. control switchgear (IFC) covering at least a rest state, a reception state for the destination address, a comparison state and at least one active state. In the rest state a second data path is switched through from the data input to the output via the data multiplexer (MUX). In the reception state, a first data path to the data output is switched through via the serial decremental stage (DEC) and the multiplexer, and the data input is led to the input of the shift register (SR).
