Oil slicks can be removed from the surface of water bodies by a rotating hose (40) filled with a hydrophobic binder (42) disposed by means of guides (18, 18', 20, 20') between a squeezing device (24-1 to 24-5/26-1 to 26-5) and a water surface part of which is located directly below an oil slick. A collecting trough (16) with an oil outlet (e) is arranged below the squeezing device (24/26). The squeezing rollers (26-1 to 26-5) located above the hose (40) are convex and the squeezing rollers (24-1 to 24-5) located below the hose (40) are concave. The pairs of squeezing rollers are driven synchronously and pressure can be applied to individual rollers. The squeezing operation is assisted for example by two compressed air nozzles (38) directed onto the hose (40).
