PURPOSE:To halve the capacity of a picture memory by allocating an address of a picture memory of input picture data to an address of the picture memory storing already outputted picture data. CONSTITUTION:An address conversion section 10 uses a function (f) to generate an output address of an address memory thereby generating a high-order input output address of the picture memory 2 by controlling the address memory. At first in a 1st page, an initial address generated by an input address generating section 4 is used to write picture data to the picture memory 2 and the initial address is written in an address memory 8. Since picture data of the 1st page are read before picture data of a 2nd page are inputted to the picture memory 2 after the end of write, the data from the memory 8 pass through a read changeover switch 7, inputted to an output address generating section 5 on one hand and the picture data represented by a low-order address of the picture memory 2 generated thereat and a high-order address of the picture memory 2 outputted through the changeover switch 7 are read.
