PURPOSE:To obtain a knitted fabric, having a quadruple structure in which the front and back bodies of clothes such as a sweater are knitted into a cylindrical form and capable of nearly completely omitting the sewing of a knitted fabric in which edge parts such as the bottom part, a sleeve opening or a collar part are double folded and a method for knitting the fabric. CONSTITUTION:This knitted fabric having a quadruple structure is formed by a method for knitting, using a flat knitting machine having respective needle beds in the upper and lower parts and the front and rear parts and comprising a step for carrying out the setting up and wetting of a front knitted fabric 6 with needle beds in either of the upper and lower parts, a step for performing the setting up and welting of a back knitted fabric 7 with the other front and back needle beds in the upper or lower part and a step for respectively branching two rows of the front and back knitted fabrics respectively knitted in both the steps, providing four rows and knitting the knitted fabric of the four rows [waist bands (2a), (2b), (3a) and (3b)] The knitted fabric having the quadruple structure is obtained by knitting both the front and back knitted fabrics into a two-ply form and then knitting the front and back knitted fabrics in the two-ply form into a four-ply form. |
