<p>PURPOSE:To decompose and remove the nitrate, etc., in the small amt. of waste water almost free of org. compds. CONSTITUTION:The waste water is broght into contact with a carrier 5 on which org. compds. are adsorbed to decompose the nitrate and nitrite in the water. Activated carbon or bone black is used for the carrier 5, and <=3C alcohols or carboxylic acids are used as the org. compd. Concretely, the org. compds are added to the waste water to be treated, the water is introduced into a denitrification tank 4 contg. the carrier 5 to adsorb the org. compds. on the carrier 5, and the nitrate, etc., are decomposed by the denitrifying bacteria propagated on the carrier. Batch operation is preferably conducted in this case. The decomposed waste water is held in the denitrification tank 4 until the next batch is charged to retain the denitrifying bacteria.</p> |
