PURPOSE:To provide a basic brick having excellent corrosion resistance, spalling resistance, heat-insulation and adhesivity to refractory coating and usable as a lining material for a cement rotary kiln. CONSTITUTION:The basic brick is composed of 40-90wt.% of magnesia clinker, 60-10wt.% of forsterite clinker and 1-10wt.% of zirconia, wherein the forsterite clinker is produced by baking a mixture of fine magnesia powder and fine silica powder and has an MgO:SiO2 ratio of (90-60):(10-40) (in terms of wt.%). The forsterite clinker may be produced by the baking of a mixture of fine magnesia powder and fine zircon powder. In the latter case, the additional compounding of zirconia is not necessary because zirconia is supplied by the thermal decomposition of zircon. |
