PURPOSE: To provide an easy-to-interchange modular press tool for assembling and terminating an electrical connector unit having various line characteristics. CONSTITUTION: This modular press tool 20 is provided with a pneumatic piston cylinder 24, a base 22, and an anvil 26 protruding from the base for positioning the rear housing of an electrical connector unit. The anvil 26 involves a coupling means 37 having a plurality of grooves 36 in which wire protruding from the rear of the rear housing extends. A ram 28 is movably mounted on the base 22 so as to reciprocate for the anvil 26. The ram 28 is engaged with the front housing of the electrical connector unit, and may have a variety of interchangeable fixtures 38a so as to accommodate the modular front housing of different sizes and termination configurations. |
