The wire from the flyback transformer is taken through a hole into the divergent portion of the tube. To overcome the problem of static electricity production by the high voltage current, the wire is insulated from the tube by a thick disc of synthetic rubber or foam. The wire is forced into the center of the disc through a radial slot with a wedge-shaped mouth to simplify the insertion process. Extremely flexible insulator can be manufactured cheaply and applied generally to flyback transformer wires of different diameter.
