The jig attached with a dial gage is set on a workpiece for the gage spindle with its contact tip to move up and down by the variation of depth in the groove to actuate the pointer for readings in the dial indicator. The jig is formed on its bottom side with a vertical groove (2) having a notched mouth (3) for a measure disk (9) to fit movably in the groove (2), the disk with its central through-hole fitted on a shaft (10) put through a slot (4) formed across the groove (2). A dial gage (16) having a spindle (5) with its tip (17) is mounted on the top of the jig by fitting the gage stem (18) in a central hole (6) for the spindle tip (17) in touch with the peripheral face of the disk (9) to move up and down by the up-down motion of the disk (9), which is placed in a groove of a workpiece (25) tightly held in the notched mouth (3) of the jig bottom for measurement by moving the jig along the groove of the piece (25) and actuates the dial gage in a known manner.
