PURPOSE:To obtain a polyoxyalkylenelactic acid derivative effectively usable as a detergent, having high safety due to its higher flash point than that of a lactic acid ester without any fear of decomposing and deteriorating during the preservation due to its hydrolytic resistance. CONSTITUTION:The compound of the formula [R1 and R3 are 2-3C alkylene; (m) and (n) are 0-3, with the proviso that (m+n) is 1-5; R2 is 1-4C alkyl or alkylcarbonyl; X is H, l-4C alkyl or alkylcarbonyl]. This compound is produced by using lactic acid, a 1-4C fatty acid, a 1-4C alcohol, an alkylene oxide and an alkyl halide as a raw material and obtained by subjecting the alkylene oxide to the addition reaction with the lactic acid in the presence of, e.g. an alkali catalyst and reacting the resultant polyoxyalkylenelactic acid with the 1-4C fatty acid and 1-4C alcohol. This compound is utilized as a detergent, a solvent for inks/coatings and a damping liquid for offset printing. |
