A carton base (2) has two side walls (3,4) and a tongue for wedging the package product. The tongue (11) is cut out from one part of the base which extends from one of the side walls. The tongue is connected at each of its ends to the base or side wall by means of folding lines. A cover (7) adjoins one of the side walls and is extended by a leg (9). The tongue has a folding line (16) located in its central zone whose length is adapted so that the edge (20) formed by the folding line comes into contact with the cover in the closed position. USE - Packaging of earthenware products.
