The button is made in two sections - the button itself (4) and a metal base (1) which fixes to the cloth by means of claws (2) which are pushed through the material and then folded over in the form of staples. The button also has a metal component (5) with claws (7) which pass through the cloth and are bent over to anchor with the base. In a variant of the design the button and the base have tabs which engage with one another by rotation. The bases can be fixed to a garment during the manufacturing process, and the buttons attached to the bases when the garment is finished. ADVANTAGE - The buttons do not hinder the manufacturing operations and can be made interchangeable.
