INFORMATION RECORDING MEDIUM AND INFORMATION RECORDING/ REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To easily detect the attaching direction of the information recording medium and to automatically detect the kind condition of a disk by providing a write protect tab or a sensor hole on a position where the right and left of a disk cartridge are asymmetrical. CONSTITUTION:On a position where the right and left of a disk cartridge 1 are asymmetrical, a write protect tab 3 or a sensor hole 4 is provided. Therefore, the write protect tab 3 or the sensor hole 4 is positioned on a place where the right and left are differently placed depending on the cases when the information recording medium is attached to the information recording/reproducing device with its front attached and when with its back attached. Thus, wether it is attahed with its front attached or with its back attached is easily identified.
