PURPOSE:To obtain a smooth reduced picture by preventing the occurrence of a part where two lines are continuously thinned even at the time when lines of picture information are simultaneously thinned by two processings of the first processing and the second processing. CONSTITUTION:A subscanning thinning rate calculating part 6 calculates the subscanning thinning rate, by which picture information of B4 size stored in a picture memory 1 is reduced to that of A4 size, and the subscanning thinning rate, by which picture information is stored in regular form paper of A4 size, based on the number of all lines of decoded picture information which is stored in a picture reproducing part 3 outputted from a decoding part 2. Based on subscanning thinning rates calculated by the subscanning thinning rate calculating part 6, a subscanning thinning part 5 thins the line shifted from one of overlapping lines by two lines if the line to be thinned for reduction to A4 size and that for reduction to regular form paper overlap each other, and the part 5 thines the line shifted from one of adjacent lines to the opposite side of the other by one line if they are adjacent to each other. |
