A drum brake comprising a backing plate (10) with two slidably-mounted shoes (12, 14) each comprising a web (12a, 14a) and a flange (12b, 14b), the side facing the drum (20) being provided with a friction lining (16, 18) that is frictionally engaged with the drum (20) by a hydraulic actuator (22) acting on a first end of the webs (12a, 14a) of said shoes (12, 14), a variable-length spacer (40) determining the spacing between the shoes (12, 14) being adjacent to said hydraulic actuator (22), and a support member (28) for a second end of the shoe webs being secured to the backing plate (10). Said brake further comprises a mechanical actuator (50) with a first mechanical actuation lever (60) hinged to a second lever (70) for distributing over one shoe (10) the forces imparted to the other shoe (14) by the first lever (60). |
