PURPOSE: To provide a high pressure discharge lamp having a simple lamp supporting body and the simple, low cost production method of the high pressure discharge lamp. CONSTITUTION: A lamp supporting body 10 for holding a discharge tube 4 has two blanking plate components 12a, 12b arranged with electrically insulated. The first blanking plate component 12a is the constituting element of a first lamp lead wire 7a led from the discharge tube 4 and the lamp supporting body 10, and electrically connected to another first lead wire 11a electrically connected to a base 2. The second blanking plate component 12b is the constituting element of a second lamp lead wire 7b led from the discharge tube 4 and the lamp supporting body 10, and electrically connected to another second lead wire 11b electrically connected to the base 2. The blanking plate components 12a, 12b are positioned on one plane, and their surface normal lines are vertical to a lamp axis line I-I. |
