A double-screw extruder is specified which consists of a screw barrel and two screws mounted rotatably therein and meshing with one another. Each screw has an elongated basic body with an outwardly projecting land (10,11) running in helical turns. To reduce the spreading pressure between the two screws, the lands (10,11) of the two screws have a trapezoidal cross-section. They enlarge upwardly starting from the basic body (8,9). <IMAGE>
