A warning badge or similar has a flexible sign containing a number of light-emitting diodes, which transmit light to one face, and a source of current to energise the diodes. The display unit concerned has transparent protective layer behind a front layer with a window; the protective layer has projections fitting the windows; a flexible substrate lies beneath the transparent layer and holds the diodes firmly in a manner matching the projections but with the transparent and substrate layers lying adjacent; the whole product has a water-proof lining on the back of the flexible substrate. Preferred materials are: PVC film for the front layer, PVC film or a water-proof fabric for the lining. ADVANTAGE - The products are intended to be worn e.g. by pedestrians as warnings to e.g. road traffic (e.g. at night). The warning can be released from its belt and mounted elsewhere for various purposes. It can be bent e.g. on to a belt or folded and in a wide range of angles e.g. to maximise its recognition by drivers approaching from different angles.
