A housing (2) for an oil-level sensor in a car is made from thermoplastic, such as polyamide or a polymer compound of hexamethylene diamide with adipic acid, with metal wire connectors passing through the walls and sealed. The wires themselves have a covering of the same thermoplastic where they pass through the walls, the covering thickness being about 5 to 20 microns. There may be an intermediary layer in the form of a base lacquer coat between the wires and the walls. It should have a higher melting point than the thermoplastic and it has a greater thickness than the covering of the wires.
