The sequential image information testing method involves evaluation of the image information, and activating a controller which varies equipment parameters until optimal representation of the image information is achieved. The optimised image information is tested and classified according to the test results. The controller is motor driven according to the representations of the image information resulting from different equipment parameters and until an optimization parameter reaches an optimum value. The optimization parameter can be the detectability of object characteristics. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for testing optical components such as lenses or contact lenses for defects. Method and arrangement enable testing procedures to be simplified.
