A continuously working press for prodn. of wooden or laminated panels comprises upper (3) and lower (4) sections each with a heater plate and continuous steel pressure band running over drive and idler rolls. Roller bars circulate continuously between the pressing band and the heater plates (3, 4) and are guided on rolling faces on the latter (3, 4). Both heater plates (3, 4) are separated into smaller sections (10) with roller surfaces (9) for the circulating bars. Each separate section (10) has an independent heating channel system and sections (10) are clamped together by interlocking elements (12). Joints (11) between adjoining sections (10) are close-fitting to allow smooth passage of the roller bars. Pref. joints (11) traversed by the roller bars are angled relative to the roller movement and have a zigzag or similar profile. Interlocking elements (12) for connecting heater sections (10) work on a tongue and groove system and may be an integral part of the heater sections (10) or alternatively a separate clamping plate (12) which engages in the space between heater sections (10). USE/ADVANTAGE - Continuous prodn. of wood-based or laminated panels. Doubles the life of the heater plate at low cost.
