The main part of the piston is made from pressed metal and supports a central circular plate (2) which has two ducts (4a,4b) for the two way valve action. The pressed shape is extended into a cylindrical section (3) which supports the piston sliding seal and into a rolled over end (25) which locates one of the sprung valve seals (24). The other valve seal is located on the central plate. Both ducts have similar flow capability at low flow rates. The rolled over end has ports (23) for the flow from one of the sets of valves. ADVANTAGE - The lightweight construction piston is simple to produce and provides a responsive damping action.
