Optically-readable information carrier, e.g. CD - has metallised foil of, e.g. aluminium@, on base and uses UV radiation for mass hardening by thermo-mechanical process

The information carrier has a metal foil (12) fixed on a base (15) which has information recording tracks (13). The tracks contain spaces which are filled with hardening material (16), and UV radiation (25) is used to fix the metallised foil (11, 12) on the base. The information carrier can be constructed as a compact disc since it has the same thickness as a CD. The information carrier is transparent. The metallised foil, made of e.g. aluminium, is deposited on the base using a thermo-mechanical process. A lacquered layer (14) is interposed between the foil and the metallising layer (11).
