The sample analyzer for gas from an extraction furnace (1) comprises, arranged between said furnace (1) and a detector (2), a buffer vessel (3) of which the internal capacity is variable. The advantage of such a variable buffer vessel (3) is that different gas samples of a wide concentration range can be analyzed without an exchange of the buffer vessel and with a considerable reduction of the detector adaptation time. Continuous measurement from a low to a high concentration range is possible.
