Yarn heater for false twist texturing machine

Yarn is heated, esp. on a false twist texturing machine, by a heater with a contact heating surface consisting of a series of spaced ridges which carry the yarn at a distance from the heater surface and which are arranged to reach the temperature of the heater, pref. a sufficiently high temperature to be self cleaning. A heating tube is heated by resistance heaters and carriers a series of rings or discs of wear and heat resistant material, e.g. Al or Ti oxide, which are sepd. by spacers. Adjustable inlet and outlet guides guide the yarn across them along a helix. The relative position of the guides is adjustable to control the helix angle and contact length. The spacing length and height of the yarn carriers can be varied to control the contact length. The yarn carrier can be made of a single shape, perforated cuff placed on the heating tube.
