The clamping device has two clamp blocks (1, 2) spaced apart via a pair of tension rods (3, 4) with a length matched to the required application. One of the tension rods includes a tensioning element (5) allowing fine adjustment by a variation in its axial length, to allow replacement of the breaker between adjacent line sections or insertion of an isolator between the latter. Pref. each clamp block incorporates a safety element in the form of a transverse bolt (14, 15) cooperating with the fixing rails for the line end and preventing slip during the clamping process.
