Decorative hologram panel - receives and reproduces holograms representing light sources at infinity

For receiving the holograms, the receiving plane contains a light sensitive medium (11). In this plane an objective beam (22,23) from a monochromatic source (1), e.g. a laser, is brought into interference with w reference beam (7). The latter may also be from the laser (1) and is coherent with the objective beam (22,23). On reaching the receiving plane, the objective beam (22,23) has substantially plane wave fronts. For reproducing the hologram, a holographic film (30) is brought into concise contact with one of the surfaces (32,33) of a flat, exposed, transparent substrate (31) or a glass plate. A monochromatic light source (34) emits light (35) at such an angle to the substrate (31) that the latter acts as a conductor for the light (35) due to total reflection at its surfaces (32,33). The total reflection is partially locally increased at the surface (32) contacting the film (300 in dependence on the hologram pattern. USE - Project images into narrow rooms to create illusion of more space, e.g. for decorating walls or corridors, subways, tunnels, etc. Also for use in theatres, concert halls, cinemas galleries, waiting room, etc.
