The electrical machine has conductor rods inserted in slots extending parallel to its axis and coupled together on at least one side of the machine via coupling conductors (44, 46) provided as prefabricated mouldings of variable rectangular cross-section, lying flat against one another and separated by thin insulation layers. The conductor strands (39, 40) are arranged sinuously in layers or in figure 8 shaped loops, the enlarged cross-sections of conductor strands from adjacent grooves lying axially behind one another so that all the connection points lie in the outer half of the connection head to allow access for measurement or modification.
