Joining the ends of a weatherstrip by moulding

A method of joining end portions 18, 19 of a weatherstrip consists of introducing the end portions to openings in a mould such that a seal portion 13 of the weatherstrip is compressed substantially to the shape of a sealing part 15, 15a of the seal portion. The end portions are separated in the mould by a predetermined gap and a rubber material is injected into the gap, to form joining member 20 mutually bonding the end portions of the weatherstrip. Joining member 20 has a shape which is substantially that of the sealing part 15, 15a. A moulding apparatus for joining said end portions includes a clamping member for assuring correct positioning of a sealing edge of the weatherstrip. The moulding apparatus comprises upper, lower and inner mould parts (see figure 18).
