Compounds having the skeletal structure (X being a halogen) are prepared by treating compounds having the skeletal structure with aqueous halogen hydracid, preferably with cooling. In examples: (1) and (2) 1-ethyleneimino-2-hydroxy-butene-(3) with 2N hydrochloric acid at room temperature or at 50 DEG C., or with 0.1N acid at 36 DEG to 37 DEG C., gives 1-(betachloro) - ethylamino - 2 - hydroxy - butene - (3)hydrochloride; (3) 1-(C-methyl)-ethyleneimino - 2 - hydroxy - butene - (3) with 2N hydrochloric acid at 0 DEG to 5 DEG C. or at 40 DEG C. gives 1 - (beta - chloro) - isopropylamino - 2 - hydroxy - butene - (3); and (4) 1 - (N) - ethyleneimino - 2 - vinyl - 2 - hydroxy - cyclohexane with 0.5N hydrochloric acid at 50 DEG C. gives 1-(betachloro) - ethylamino - 2 - vinyl - 2 - hydroxy - cyclohexane.
