COPOLYMERS OF UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACIDS, PROCESS FOR PREPARING SAME AND USE THEREOF

Copolymers of an unsaturated carboxylic acid with another unsaturated compound are obtainable by the reaction of an alkaline solution of a monosaccharide capable of forming an enolate with the unsaturated carboxylic acid in the presence of a radical-forming initiator, at a temperature between 60.degree.C and 110.degree.C; the copolymers are excellently suitable as sequestering agents, complexing agents and co-builders in washing and cleaning agents.
