<p>Equipment for separating and drying plastic chips has one or more flotation tanks containing a liquid, a device at the outlet end of the tank to mechanically pre-dry the chips removed form the tank which still hold liquid from the tank, and another device which completes the drying in a heated air draught. The pre-drying device has a conveyor belt which allows the liquid to flow through it; the chips taken from the tank are released at the outlet end and acts on the top face of the belt. The squeeze roller is preferably rubber or elastomer. Pref., the flotation tank (1), filled with e.g. water, has ribbed rollers (3) arranged along its length, whose ribs dip into the liquid. Heavy chips etc. fall to the bottom of the tank and are removed; lighter particles are carried to the outlet end (4) and moved over the plate (5) to the pre-drier (7) which has a conveyor belt (9) in another tank (8). The belt (9) is perforated and allows liquid to pass through. Two squeeze rollers (19,20) act one the moving belt (14) between them, the lower roller (20) being fixed in position. Both (19,20) are foam rubber. A brush roller (23) is driven and revolves against the top squeeze roller (19). Finally the chips etc. are passed form a collecting container (27) to a blower (30) which moves them to a hot air dryer (31). ADVANTAGE - The apparatus has a low energy consumption. It removes most of the liquid even from pockets in the film being processed which contain the liquid.</p> |
