A device for noise dampening in monolithic exhaust-gas catalysers while decreasing the emission of harmful gas components, fitted with an insert made from a catalytic material, whereas that insert consists of segments with ducts, characterized in that the total duct cross-section area in a single segment (2) is equal to 1.1-1.5 inlet pipe cross-section (5), whereas the duct length (L) of each duct (4) is equal to 0,45-0.70 of the diameter (D) of the inlet pipe (5), whereas the height (h) of expansion chambers (6) between the segments (2) is equal to 0.15-0.40 of the length (L) of ducts (4).<IMAGE>
