The power inverter is fitted to a jet engine of the type, which has an external cover (1), which forms the outlet channel (3, 4) for the primary flow of hot gas (F1). The secondary cold gas flow (F2) passes along the primary pipe (2) to surround the primary flow. The power inverter consists of at least two gates (5a & 5b), each having an upstream and downstream edge (12a & 12b). The gates are mounted so as to pivot into a retracted position, in line with the outer casing, and an inverted position, in which they form an "inversion channel" (11). Axial escape outlets (15a & 15b) are formed at the downstream edges of the gates. This outlet is provided to maintain open communication between the channel (4), upstream of the gates (5) and the downstream area of the channel. A small flow (F3) passes through this outlet. USE/ADVANTAGE - It produces a light and compact inverter, which does not affect the operating efficiency of the engine.
