The jaw driver (26) is axially movable on the chuck body shaft (3) and connected with jaws (33). The socket (13) is rotatably connected with a gable (14), which is threaded on the shaft with a somewhat lesser thread pitch than the socket thread union (25,27). When the socket is not loaded through transmission of clamp force from the jaws, it is freely rotatable relatively to the gable for rapid movement of the jaw driver, but when it is loaded it is pressed against the gable, causing it to rotate, so that gable and socket move backwards on the shaft thread. |
