The tubes to be butt jointed are two tubular elements (1,2) having an aerodynamic profile that each have two opposite incurved faces (3,4) which terminate at one end by a rounded shape which forms the leading edge (5) and at the other end with a slot (6) giving access to two longitudinal throats (7,8). The internal walls (12) contain symmetrical longitudinal ribs (16,17) situated near the leading edge (5). The two elements are butt jointed by a splicing bar (21) of a cross section sensibly the same as the internal section of the two elements (1,2) in which it engages and is held in position by two locking elements which are engaged by the screwing of their screws (44,45). Use/Advantage - For the joining together of two tubes used in the unfurling and furling of a sail which makes for a rigid joint.
