A device for taking blood samples comprises a container 1 sealed in a state of partial vacuum by a bung 3 through which passes a glass tube 7 which has a tapered tip 6 and is surrounded by a flexible tube 8 in the free end of which a needle 4 is mounted. The device comprises a glass or synthetic plastic container 1 which is partially evacuated and is sealed by a rubber or synthetic plastic bung 3. A glass tube 7 with a closed tip 6 passes through the bung which also receives a flexible tube 8 surrounding the glass tube. A needle 4 carried by the free end of the flexible tube has a removable cover 5. In use, the needle is inserted in the body and the tip of the glass tube is broken so that blood flows into the container. |
