Alignment rig for positioning containers for loading onto rail flat beds - has transfer trolley with hoist on pendant supports aligning container laterally

The transfer trolley has servo operated hoists to grip the underside of the container (2) via a shaped grip (14) engaging a shaped recess (15) under the container. The grip is on a pendant mounting and has sloping edges to self align with the container. When the container is lifted the pendant action aligns the container position. The transfer trolley has alignment aids (6) to locate the rails (1). Hydraulic rams (8) each side of the trolley raise and lower the container to and from fixed supports straddling the rail. The flatbeds are positioned under the containers which are then lowered accurately into position. ADVANTAGE - Allows adjustment of the container positions after being dropped from the road trucks. No shunting adjustment is required to load the flatbeds.
