HV generation for energising X=ray tube - using multi-state inverter whose switching state is changed only during current zero crossing in oscillation circuit

The inverter with several switching states feeds an oscillation circuit with at least one capacitor and HV transformer. The inverter switching state is changed only during the current zero crossing in the oscillation circuit. Pref. the current sign in the oscillation circuit is measured for the determn. of the zero crossing. The inverter has two switching states for generating two voltages in the oscillating circuit, as well as a high ohmic OFF state. The switching is time controlled between the switching and OFF states. In normal operation, the OFF time is considerably shorter than the resonance period of the oscillating circuit. ADVANTAGE - Minimised interference, small losses.
