A coffee mill consists of an inlet container (2), a grinder (4) and a packing machine (8). The container is located vertically above the grinder and the grinder vertically above the packing machine; the coffee (K,M) is conveyed by gravity; and the coffee mill is gas tight it has at least one inlet (41-44) for a shielding gas (S). The container, grinder and at least a part of the packing machine are kept under a shielding gas atmosphere. USE/ADVANTAGE - For grinding and packing coffee. The coffee suffers little loss of aroma and taste, and the operation of the mill is reliable and economical.
