PURPOSE:To prevent carbon from intruding into the body of a fuel cell by furnishing a carbon removing device in the fuel gas piping line, and removing the carbon educed in the fuel gas to be fed to the fuel cell. CONSTITUTION:A carbon removing device 14 is furnished in a fuel gas piping line leading from a fuel modifier 10 to the body 1 of the fuel cell. The device 14 is embodied as application of an electric dust collecting machine. Electric dust collection device 21 has an ionization part 22 ionizing carbon and a dust collector part 23 to capture the ionized carbon, wherein the ionization part 22 consists of a plurality of counter-electrodes 24 and discharge electrodes 25. To each electrode 24 a metal plate is used, and such plates are arranged at a certain spacing, while to each discharge electrode 25 a thin metal wire is used, and such wires are arranged as confronting the electrodes 25. The electrodes 24 are grounded while the electrodes 25 are connected with the positive side of a high voltage power supply part 26. The above-mentioned dust collector part 23 consists of a plurality of electrode plates 27 arranged opposingly at a certain spacing, among which every other plates are grounded while the remaining half 27 are connected to the power supply part 26. |
