TAILINGS RETREATMENT A process for recovering copper values from copper ore tailing streams with a conditioning step to mitigate the effects of prior contact with flotation reagents. Such a process is useful for recovering copper values from a copper ore final tailing stream with at least one conditioning under acidic conditions with a water soluble sulfide that converts the oxidized copper values into a collectable sulfide form. In live tailings, the rougher tailings stream are conditioned individually and subsequently combined with cleaner tailings concentrate for copper recovery by leaching. Separate treatment of the rougher tailings facilitates additional recovery of copper values. |
