PURPOSE:To make restarting automatically by leaving unlighted even though a discharge lamp is started by a starter circuit, and restarting unless repeated starting motions causes lighting-up with the output voltage of an alternator set oat a specified value. CONSTITUTION:A booster circuit 1 and an inverter 4 are operated when a light switch 2 is put on, and a starter circuit 6 is actuated to light up a discharge lamp 5. When the lamp 5 remains unliggted, judgement is made whether the terminal voltage of an alternator 11 is exceeding the preset voltage value-if unlighted even though the alternator 11 is power generating normally, a judgement is passed that either of the discharge lamp 5, circuit 1, inverter 4, and circuit 6 goes in failure, and the operations of the circuit 1, inverter 4, and circuit 6 are stopped to undergo appropriate countermeasure. This is followed by a judgement whether the terminal voltage of the alternator 11 is exceeding the specified level, and if yes, the discharge lamp 5 is restarted. |
