The invention in essence comprises a medicinal ocular membrane consisting of a biodegradable polymer base, an antioxidant and a thrombolytic enzyme, the compounds being arranged in layers, a layer of the thrombolytic enzyme such as streptodecase being placed between layers of antioxidant, e.g. emoxipin. The membrane is produced by applying a solution of emoxipin in the polymer to the base and drying it in a warm air stream, then similarly applying a solution of streptodecase in the polymer, and another layer of the emoxipin solution. The membrane is then dried, shaped, packed and sterilized. The membrane thus produced is multi-functional and acts over a prolonged period. |
