The security device uses a cable (2) contained within the door between inner and outer skins, exhibiting a variation in length, upon the door being attacked, to operate an emergency locking device. The cable is attached to emergency locking elements (30,31) which are held in the retracted position against the force of a spring, in the normal condition of the cable. The cable is fed to and fro within the space between the inner and outer skins of the door and is passed around bolts (6) between the door and the door frame. ADVANTAGE - Increased security for safe or bank vault.
