<p>PURPOSE: To perform a remote operation of a movable system with high accuracy by provide a circuit which detects the motion of a roller ball that is partially contained within a joy stick and performs rotational motion and a click operation and exerting pressure with the thumb of an operator to rotate the roller ball. CONSTITUTION: A roller ball 2, that is partially contained in a cavity 5 in a joy stick 1, is performed rotational motion by using a thumb 3 of a hand 4 of an operator and also can be clicked by adding pressure. The rotational motion of the ball 2 is communicated to cylinders 6 and 7 of symmetrical axes 12 and 13 which are mutually perpendicular to each other through a peripheral surface of the ball 2, and communicated to encoder wheels 10 and 11 of the cylinders 6 and 7. Elements 14 and 15, which are connected to a contained processing circuit through transmission lines 16 and 17 emit a light signal to the wheels 10 and 11 and pick up a reflected signal, and the processing circuit detects the rotational motion of the ball 2. Thereby, the positioning and servo control of a movable system, that is operable can be executed with high accuracy, without using a keyboard nor a screen.</p> |
