<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a power amplifier that has a bias configuration with a good dynamic efficiency and is operated linearly under an effective class B bias. CONSTITUTION: This microwave amplifier is applicable to a multiplex beam phase antenna array system. A bias means connecting to a base of a microwave transistor(TR) (MWT) responds to a high-frequency signal input from a terminal 6 to regulate automatically a bias level, so as to keep a gain of the amplifier constant. The bias means is provided with two voltage regulators 1, 2 and the outputs are capacitively coupled with each other via a resistor 4 with a resistance, depending on a characteristic of the microwave TR. The base of the microwave TR is connected to the bias means at a connection section between the TR and a capacitor coupler of one voltage regulator. A high efficient system is obtained under an effective class B bias (nonlinear bias), in the operating mode of the power amplifier.</p> |
